Mother of Five Writes Nine Books in Eight Years

This week’s mom-of-the-week is Jen Hatmaker. When she was already a mother of three, Jen and her husband decided to adopt two more boys. With five kids in the house, Jen has her share of cretive stories. But how did she ever find time to write any of them down?

“The writing and teaching will continue until God gives us our next crazy assignment,” Jen quips, although she admits she finds herself constantly busy.

“When the kids were 1, 3, and 5, I decided that was perfect timing to start a writing career and speaking ministry (sarcasm). In the eight years since, I have written nine books and Bible studies and worn out the airlines speaking all over the United States at conferences for women, church planters, young adults, and unsuspecting men who got roped into running the tech booth or a camera at an event for chicks. ”

Jen is also the author of a hilarious blog. Her latest entry is about how difficult it is helping five children get to the end of the school year, “I tapped out somewhere in April and at this point, it is a miracle my kids are still even going to school.” We suspect this strong sense of humor helps Jen keep going.

So, hats off to Jen Hatmaker, and all mom authors out there. Be sure to check out Jen’s books, here. See all of our moms-of-the-week, here.
